In times of war we gather seeds

A performance in Mexico City's Zócalo using a circular cardboard ocean drum—inspired by a pre-Hispanic instrument made by Rubén Yodoquinsi—modified with rice and bean seeds instead of pellets. The object was placed inside a shawl (rebozo) and carried on the body, generating oceanic sounds through body movement.
The sound of the sea evokes the arrival of foreign ships to American shores, establishing a dialogue between the contemporary body and historical memory. The action takes place in the symbolic space of the Zócalo, confronting national projects while seeking a gesture of reconciliation with the legacies of colonial violence.
This proposal is conceptually connected to the project Where the Root is Braided.
